Internship Guidelines

The Dallas Hispanic Law Foundation invites those law students who are in the process of completing their first or second year classes to apply for the DHLF Judicial Internship Program. Judges from Dallas area civil and criminal courts will be participating. Applicants must have completed first-year law school courses from an accredited law school, including civil procedure, legal research, and legal writing courses. All students in Accredited Law Schools (including the UNT Dallas College of Law) are also eligible to apply. The Foundation grants stipends to the students chosen to participate in the program.

Applicants must be willing to commit to a minimum of a four-week internship.  The internships will commence no earlier than May 17, 2021, and must be completed no later than July 16, 2021.  Interns will receive a stipend of approximately $2,000.00 for the four weeks.  Applications are due by February 26, 2021.  Intern selection will be announced in late March 2021.

Completed applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 PM CST, February 26, 2021.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Please note that a single application may be submitted for the Scholarship/Bar Study Grant and Judicial Internship Programs.  If you are applying for both, please submit all application materials by the earlier deadline. 

How to Apply

1. Follow this link:  https://dallasfoundation.spectrumportal.net

(You can also find the link easily on our website at www.dallasfoundation.org then click on “Scholarships” then “Scholarship Listing” then “Dallas Hispanic Law Foundation Scholarship").

2. Create an account: If you have not applied in the past, you will need to create a new account by clicking “Register,” then selecting “Scholarship Applicant” under Portal Access. Once you complete and submit all the required information, the system will automatically send you an email confirming your registration.

3. Log in to the portal: Using the username and password you selected, navigate to Scholarship Applicant > Find Scholarships. Locate the Dallas Hispanic Law Foundation Scholarship 2021, click the link, then enter the access code dhlf. Since this scholarship and/or internship is reserved ONLY for a specific students, you must enter the access code dhlf in the "Please enter the password" box.

4. Begin the application process: Once the code is entered, you’ll see the description of the Dallas Hispanic Law Foundation Scholarship and you can begin completing the scholarship application.

Please make certain you use the access code and complete the application for the Dallas Hispanic Law Foundation Scholarship. You may not be eligible for other scholarship programs you find on this site. Please also note applicants can work on the application at their leisure, save it, and come back to it at a later date.
